Introduction
Oct. 1st, 2010 09:10 amI've had a Dreamwidth account for almost a month now and have been trying to decide what to do with it. I considered just mirroring my LJ, but there was something about a new journal account on a new and smaller site that made me want a fresh start with something different.
At this point, I don't have any plans to leave LJ, although I am getting a bit weary of how interconnected it wants to be with Facebook and Twitter and so on, and I'm not crazy about people with Facebook accounts being able to comment on my journal, when I have it set to LJ users only. That said, I don't anticipate any mass exodus from my friends list from LJ to DW, and there are still a number of communities on LJ that I want to keep up with.
Anyway, since DW was founded with an emphasis on creative expression, I'm thinking I'll make this more of a writing-focused journal, and keep my LJ more for random things to share and/or personal stuff. I'll be cross-posting a few things to LJ (like publication announcements), but for the most part I'd like to keep things self-contained. I expect that most of the entries here on DW will be public, although eventually I might be sharing works in progress to the point that I might want to limit access to a trusted few.
For those reading this on LJ, if you'd like a DW account, you'll need to either find an unused invite code or purchase a paid account. You can keep an eye on http://dw-codesharing.dreamwidth.org/ for available invite codes; it's where I got mine.
All for now...
